In Long, Bigoted Rant NJ Mayor Attacks LGBT Community as ‘Affront to Almighty God’ and Blasts New Gay Education Law

Published

on

Insisting “there is no hate or bigotry intended,” Barnegat, New Jersey Mayor Alfonso Cirulli on Tuesday called the LGBTQ community “an affront to almighty God” during a public meeting of the Township Committee, as he blasted a new state law that requires schools to include in their curriculums the social, political, and economic contributions LGBTQ people have made to society, as the Asbury Park Press reports.

Mayor Cirulli, who says he is a retired educator, warned of what he labeled the “serious psycologic affects” [sic] to adolescents and young children the impending LGBT curriculum will have. He did not detail what those would be, but said they would have “serious consequences.”

Cirulli says kids always get picked on, “for being overweight, ethnic, racial, or whatever their problems are,” as he wrongly claimed students are protected by federal law, and “all the schools do a fantastic job” of protecting at-risk students.

“We’ve crossed over the line into absurdity,” by passing a law that requires students to learn about LGBTQ people, he said, in an angered tone. And he said is fulfilling his duty to “protect” township residents by railing against the state law.

Mayor Cirulli told the committee that the new LGBTQ education law is so “serious” that lawmakers must ‘reverse” it, or residents must “vote them out.”

Ironically, he told the council members, “no group has a right to force others to comply with their beliefs, deprive them of their First Amendment rights, and strip them of their parents of how to morally raise their children.”

The mayor, who spoke uninterrupted, expressed his outrage that parents are not allowed, he says, to opt out their children from being taught the curriculum.

“What does a person’s sexual preference have to do with anything, and who’s business is it anyway?” Cirulli, clearly having no idea what is is to be LGBTQ, demanded to know. “How would anyone know another person’s sexual preference unless that person professes it, and what is his or her motive for professing it?”

“Sexual preference is a mindset,” Cirulli continued, again, without interruption. “Don’t confuse this with racial or ethnic discrimination. There is no comparison.”

Cirulli went on to complain about what he described as a long list of wedding-related businesses, religious leaders, students, religious leaders and others he claimed were “punished” for their “Christian convictions.”

After that outburst against same-sex marriage Mayor Cirulli went on to disparage transgender people, claiming that “a male can just say he is a female, and vice versa,” which is absolutely false.

He then went on to call the federal Equality Act, a bill that will not see debate on the Senate while the GOP is in control, “dangerous.”

“Politicians have no right to promote the LGBT agenda through laws that are intended to destroy religious freedom, especially our Jewish and Christian heritage,” he charged.

“The LGBTQ movement is out to crush anybody or any faith that doesn’t embrace their chosen lifestyle,” Mayor Cirulli said, falsely.

“The Equality Act, which leads to the teaching of – and this is what LGBTQ stands for – radical lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or queer ideology in school curriculum nationwide.”

“For people of faith, make no mistake that this political movement is an affront to almighty God,” Cirulli ranted, “with the intent of completely trying to completely eradicate God’s law and the foundation that this nation was built on.”

“The bible tells us that they will try, but not succeed, and will pay an eternal price for their rebellion,” the mayor added.

His rant did not end there, but spoke for about 15 minutes in total attacking his own constituents, and every LGBTQ person in America, and their allies.

The full video, which goes on with no objection from anyone on the council or in the room, can be watched on the Barnegat Township website.

Trump DOJ Tells Supreme Court It Is Legal To Fire Transgender Workers

Published

on

The Trump administration on Friday informed the U.S. Supreme Court it is the opinion of the Dept. of Justice that it is legal under federal law for employers to fire transgender workers merely for being transgender.

The DOJ’s brief states Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, does not apply to transgender workers.

In reporting the development Buzzfeed calls it one of the Trump administration’s “most agressive steps yet to legalize anti-transgender discrimination.”

Friday’s move comes just days after the DOJ attempted to strong-arm the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission into telling the Supreme Court discrimination on the basis of gender identity is not sex discrimination. To do so would have contradicted up to eight years of EEOC findings and rulings.

Anti-LGBT White Supremacist to Co-Host New Public Affairs TV Talk Show That Will Air on PBS

Published

on

Pat Buchanan, a longtime anti-LGBTQ white supremacist Christian nationalist pundit will co-host a re-boot of “The McLaughlin Group,” a Sunday morning public affairs, news, and commentary TV  talk show know for the fast and hot takes of its conservative creator, John McLaughlin. The show will be syndicated by Maryland Public Television and air on PBS stations, Media Matters reports.

Buchanan, who worked in the Nixon, Ford, and Reagan White Houses, co-hosted the original version of CNN’s “Crossfire,” and was even a regular contributor on MSNBC, before the network parted ways with him over offensive commentary in one of his many books.

Indeed, Buchanan has a long and dark history of homophobia, anti-semitism, Holocaust diminution, racism, and bigotry., as NCRM repeatedly reported.

For example, Buchanan once claimed that “America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.”

(They were slaves, stolen from their homes, beaten, raped, separated from their families, whipped, and later, once slavery was over, suffered hundreds of years of inequality that continues to this very day.)

In 2011, Buchanan exploded over same-sex marriage, claiming it “is being imposed dictatorially,” during this screed:

“Vaughn Walker, a gay federal judge in San Francisco, has ruled that same-sex marriage is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. Can anyone believe this absurd notion of equality was intended by or written into the Constitution by the Congress that produced the 14th Amendment?”

“Although gay marriage has been rejected in 31 states in referenda, judges continue to declare that such unions be treated as marriages,” Buchanan continued, literally denigrating the 17,000 marriages of California same-sex couples. “An idea of equality rejected democratically by voters is being imposed dictatorially. In December 2010, a repudiated liberal Congress imposed its San Francisco values on the Armed Forces, by ordering homosexuals admitted to all branches of the service. Indoctrination of recruits, soldiers, and officers into an acceptance of the gay lifestyle will transfer authority over the military, the most respected institution in America, to agents of a deeply-resented and widely detested managerial state.”

These are but two of countless examples of Buchanan’s white supremacy and anti-LGBTQ hate. Media Matters produced this short clip exposing Buchanan’s history of hate:

Media Matters, which reports that Buchanan will co-host the reboot of “The McLaughlin Group,” and that it will air on PBS stations, offers more evidence of Buchanan’s “Anti-LGBT Bigotry.”

Media Matters also reports that Buchanan “has spent decades calling for the defunding of public broadcasting,” complaining it “glorified homosexuality.”

Internet Digs Up Curt Schilling’s Horrific History After Trump Says It’s ‘Terrific’ He May Run for Congress

Published

on

President Donald Trump Tuesday endorsed the as-yet undeclared congressional candidacy of former baseball great Curt Schilling, who helped lead his teams to World Series championships four times.

Schilling in his post-baseball years has become a far right wing political commentator who has endorsed Donald Trump and who even promotes the false QAnon conspiracy theory.

Despite Schilling’s horrific history, President Donald Trump felt the need to praise him on Twitter – while making it clear the president saw him on “Fox and Friends.”

Many immediately took to Twitter to provide an important background check.

Among them, Parkland massacre survivor and activist David Hogg, who alluded to, as Yahoo News reported, the fact Schilling last year retweeted “a conspiracy theory that alleges one of the survivors from the mass shooting at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. was actually a paid crisis actor.”

Daily Beast columnist Dean Obeidallah pointed to a 2016 Washington Post piece titled, “The radicalization of Curt Schilling,”

Schilling at the time had just lost his ESPN gig after sharing on Facebook a vile transphobic meme, making clear what direction he was going to take his career in.

“Let him in!” the tweet read. “To the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow minded, judgmental, unloving, racist bigot who needs to die!!!”

And here are some more responses to Trump’s endorsement of Schilling’s potential congressional run:
