Trump Tweets ‘Fake’ Quote Lying About Democrats Hating Jewish People From ‘Group’ Tied to His Campaign

President Donald Trump has a new talking point. No, it’s not the lie that Democrats are the party of socialism. It’s the lie that Democrats hate Jewish people. And Trump and team are doing some ugly things to astroturf this lie.
“The Democrats hate Jewish people,” Trump told RNC donors at a campaign re-election fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday – his second this past weekend.
On Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to deny that the President believes Democrats hate Jewish people.
Trump followed that up early Tuesday morning with a tweet “quoting” Elizabeth Pipko, the national spokesperson for what appears to be an astroturf organization, Jexodus.
“Jewish people are leaving the Democratic Party. We saw a lot of anti Israel policies start under the Obama Administration, and it got worsts & worse. There is anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party. They don’t care about Israel or the Jewish people.” Elizabeth Pipko, Jexodus.

Mediaite notes the quote is “fake.”
“He tweeted a fake quote from Pipko, which was really just a selective collection of her comments poorly transcribed and smashed together,” Mediaite writes.
Jexodus appears to be a tool of the Trump campaign.
Pipko is a model and self-published author who worked on the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.
“Not only am I proud of my work for Trump, but I also met amazing people — including my now husband, Darren Centinello, who is still part of the President’s campaign team. He works on digital and social media outreach/strategy for the 2020 race,” Pipko told the New York Post. “My husband and I got married at Mar-a-Lago in December.”
The Facebook page for Jexodus was created on February 28, 2019, and its Twitter account was also created in February. (Twitter does not show creation date, only month.) They have already filed to trademark the name so they can sell t-shirts, and more.
And yet, already, Pipko was on “Fox & Friends” this morning, as Media Matters’ Matthew Gertz notes:
Pipko’s full quote may have been too absurd for even Trump: “We left Egypt, and now we’re leaving the Democratic Party.”
