Facing a loss of advertisers embattled and disgraced Fox News host Tucker Carlson is apparently headed for vacation. Carlson was the subject of several stunning articles published by Media Matters, which revealed his misogynistic remarks, and comments made that appear to support statutory rape, during a five year period that ended in 2011. Carlson, who joined Fox News in 2009, also used a homophobic slur during one of the audio segments.
In the “handoff” between Carlson’s 8 PM show and Sean Hannity’s 9 PM show, Hannity remarked that Carlson was “supposed to” be on vacation this week, but did his show Monday and Tuesday to spite the “mob,” which is all the people calling for his firing and a boycott of his advertisers.
“I’ve got to give you a compliment,” Hannity said to Carlson Tuesday night. “So Tucker was going to be off this week. He was, he was going to be off this week,” Hannity insisted amid Carlson’s nervous laughter.
“Have a great rest of vacation that you were supposed to have,” Hannity concluded.
So uh…Hannity just said Tucker is going on vacation pic.twitter.com/6pdCvu63q4

“It’s a busy news week, and he’s not going to take the mob’s crap,” Hannity continued. “He came in to work to, to, to stand up to this. I want the great viewers of this channel to know that.”
But conservative pundit Joe Concha claims Carlson will be on air the rest of the week:
Fox News spokesperson confirms to me that Tucker Carlson will be on the air for the rest of the week and won’t be on vacation. Confirmation comes after a toss from Carlson to Sean Hannity included the latter wishing the former to “have a great vacation you were supposed to have.”

The Daily Beast’s Sam Stein says Carlson will be on vacation next week:
Tucker Carlson is going on vacation next week, claiming he was supposed to go on this week but stayed to work amid all the scandal over previously unearthed remarks.
— Sam Stein (@samstein) March 13, 2019
Fox News’ standard protocol during periods in which their hosts are facing condemnation for their offensive actions, behaviors, or commentary is to claim they are taking a previously scheduled vacation. Some, like Bill O’Reilly, do not return.
Carlson is blaming “Democratic Party operatives” and claiming his words were “taken out of context,” and has refused to apologize or offer any sign of remorse over his remarks.

‘To Hell With Gay Pride’: Trump-Loving Florida Politician Running Viciously Homophobic Campaign
Says Gay People ‘Choose to Be a Homosexual’ and Claims They “Love” Being in Jail
A Florida man is running for a non-partisan seat on the St. Petersburg city council, and he’s running on an extremely homophobic platform.
Chico Cromartie says being gay is not part of the “American principles.”
He says being gay is a choice.
And he says “to hell with gay pride,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.
“He doesn’t honor the Pride flag, promises he won’t bow to ‘their agenda’ and thinks the LGBTQ community is thriving in St. Petersburg at the expense of the black community,” the Tampa paper adds.
“It makes me more popular as a leader,” Cromartie says about his beliefs. “Because people understand I’m going to lead based on American principles. Not because they choose to be a homosexual.”
Claiming his “policies are all-inclusive” he’s offering this apparently unconstitutional policy:
“The idea that the homosexuals should be considered to receive taxpayer dollars, based on the fact that they choose to be a homosexual, to me is not fair to the other citizens who choose not to be homosexual,” Cromartie says. “And if I’m elected, I’m going to dismantle all those policies.”
Good luck with that, because doing so likely would be illegal.
On social media Cromartie attacks the LGBTQ community and speaks in biblical terms on what appears to be his campaign page (he does not seem to have a separate functioning campaign website.)
In this post he refers to gay people as “vicious, hateful and intolerant,” suggests they are harmful to children, and talks about “the true character of the homosexual agenda.”
Here, he suggests LGBTQ people are “anti-American.”
And here, he again speaks in biblical terms, writing, “Jesus was betrayed by Judas for 30 pieces of silver. The residents of South St. Pete have been betrayed by local politicians and advocates alike, for much less!”
On what appears to be his personal Facebook page, which is linked to the campaign Facebook page, Cromartie has many pro-Trump photos and articles. And he suggests prisons have a high rate of LGBTQ incarceration, but says many gay people say they “love” being in jail.
He says, “I will always protect and defend traditional marriage, American families and their values!”
He claims he’s “receiving personal threats from homosexuals,” and “I’m the only candidate who doesn’t give a damn how homosexuals feel and I’m fighting to secure a home and future for your children in South St. Pete!”
He has a photo of a burning gay pride flag on his personal Facebook page.
And then there’s this:

Right Wing Religious Extremist Blasted for Claiming If Epstein Had Raped Teen Boys Liberals Would Support Him
Erick Erickson, a far right wing religious extremist who was once considered a conservative “thought leader” is getting slammed after making a vile and disgusting – not to mention wholly false – claim apparently about liberals.
Erickson, who (for reasons unknown) as recently as this year appeared on MSNBC and who has compared LGBT activists to ISIS, used billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s horrific crimes and newly alleged sex trafficking charges to suggest that gay people somehow are exempt from society’s mores – when the opposite is frequently true, thanks at times to people like Erickson.
He also suggested that liberals inconsistently denounce sex crimes and rape, which is astonishingly false.
If Epstein had done what he did with teenage boys and dressed them in drag, undoubtedly a number of people out to get him would instead be defending him.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) July 9, 2019
The claim drew swift rebukes from many on both the left and the right.
Republican pollster Frank Luntz made clear the left has been consistent in its outrage over sexual exploitation, child rape, and other sexual crimes:
Point being, the same people outraged at Jeffrey Epstein sexually abusing underage girls were also outraged at Catholic priests sexually abusing underage boys.
In other words, they were consistent in their outrage at sexual abuse of children.
— Frank Luntz (@FrankLuntz) July 9, 2019
Some others took a more direct approach:
In case anybody is confused, Erick is trying to score political points off little girls being sexually assaulted, because Erick is a pig-ignorant bigot with a prurient fixation with gays. He’s also just kind of a piece of shit.
— Evan Hurst (@EvanHurst) July 9, 2019
The Daily Beast took the opportunity to tweet out a December article on Erickson:
“Why does anyone take Erick Erickson seriously?” https://t.co/HBwvfvPPlW
— The Daily Beast (@thedailybeast) July 9, 2019
Others noted Erickson’s support of accused child rapist Roy Moore:
Erickson 11/13/17: Roy Moore, innocent? https://t.co/dyRcLWWqAB
— Parker Molloy (@ParkerMolloy) July 9, 2019
Some noted Republicans’ support of other child rapists:
After former House Speaker Dennis Hastert pleaded guilty to illegally funnelling hush money to a man he had sexually abused in high school, five former Republican congressmen – including former Majority Whip Tom DeLay – submitted letters to court in defense of his character. https://t.co/c6PchqdUTG

Erick Erickson once wrote an article defending Roy Moore voters — after everything about Moore came out. https://t.co/B0rNR8mWGT

There’s a really strong impulse—compulsion, maybe—among Republicans to do the horrible things that they imagine Democrats secretly do but, in reality, don’t. https://t.co/XLedLCn9PC

What the hell is wrong with this dude? You see anyone here defending Kevin Spacey? Go fuck yourself, you putz. https://t.co/xsaSJ9zSJk
— Alice Radley (@StJohnSterling) July 9, 2019
Holy crap, he actually thought this…then typed it out…then looked at it…and still hit “Tweet” and sent it for all of us to see. https://t.co/p8E9Ryl26F

Former GOP Candidate Says Buttigieg Is ‘Going to Hell’ to Meet His Maker Because He Refuses to Repent for Being Gay
Virginia Republican E.W. Jackson says 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg Is “going to die and go to hell” because he’s gay and refuses to “repent” for his “wickedness.” He also compared the South Bend, Indiana mayor to a “temple prostitute,” and – rebuking Buttigieg – says the devil, not God, creates gay people.
Jackson is a far right wing pastor who ran for the U.S. Senate in 2012 and 2018 and was the Republican Party’s nominee to become Lieutenant Governor in 2013.
He “dedicated the bulk of his radio program yesterday to attacking Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg for being gay and calling himself a Christian,” Right Wing Watch’s Kyle Mantyla reports.
Bishop Jackson, who has a long and ugly history of attacking LGBT people, went after Buttigieg for saying that he is both gay and a Christian, and for declaring that his marriage has brought him closer to God and made him a better person.
“What Pete Buttigieg said was not only a lie out of the pit of hell, it was a direct blasphemy against God,” Jackson proclaimed.
“He’s giving credit to God for a work of the devil. The devil makes homosexuals, not God,” Jackson claimed. “The devil makes transgenders, not God. He perverts their minds and perverts their thinking and, who knows, he maybe even messes with them physiologically. They get molested at a young age and confused in their sexuality and then everybody is now expected to celebrate it.”
Jackson’s remarks are scientifically false.
In March Jackson said that “homosexuals basically are trying to intimidate and cow Christians into bowing to their will,” which is also false.
“We’re not bowing,” he insisted. “They can do whatever they want to do. We’re not bowing … We Christians are never going to bow down. Never! You’ll have to kill us, but we won’t bow.”
Last month Jackson falsely claimed that Buttigieg is trying to turn America into a “homocracy.”
