Trump to Offer ‘Compromise’ Deal to End Shutdown That Includes His $5.7 Billion Wall Demand: Report

As the Republicans’ shutdown of the federal government enters its fifth week President Donald Trump is expected to announce a compromise offer to Democrats that includes his $5.7 billion demand for a wall on the Southern border.

The deal he is going to present in a nationally-televised address to the nation Saturday at 3 PM ET, “would extend protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) — and also legislation to extend the legal status of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders,” Axios reports.

The Axios report has no mention of a path to citizenship and does not define what “protections” mean.

Trump’s announcement Friday teasing out his unusual Saturday address came hours after the Supreme Court said it would not take up Trump’s appeal of a DACA lawsuit, which would “require the government to keep the DACA program going for at least ten more months,” NBC reports.

The deal is likely to be a hard -sell. Axios reports even Republicans are skeptical .
