Trump to Announce New UN Ambassador Is Former Fox & Friends Host, Current State Dept. Spokesperson

President Donald Trump is expected to announce he will nominate State Dept. Spokesperson Heather Nauert to replace Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador, Bloomberg News reports. Before joining the Trump administration Nauert had no government or foreign policy experience.

Nauert is a former “Fox & Friends” co-host who also served as Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs from March through October.

In July Nauert was the subject of strong criticism when she tried to illustrate America’s long bond with Germany by citing the Invasion of Normandy, in which the U.S. and Germany were on opposing sides.

Last year Nauert falsely characterized the United States’ vote against a United Nations resolution condemning the death penalty for same-sex relations. Nauert told reporters the resolution “called for the abolition of the death penalty altogether.”

It did not.
