Fox News – Not Sarah Sanders – Announces Annual White House Christmas Party for the Press Is Canceled
Conservative Outlet Admits ‘A Few’ of Its Hosts Are ‘Favorable to Trump’
In yet another instance of President Donald Trump battling the press and destroying Washington and American traditions, the annual White House Christmas Party for the press has been canceled. The announcement comes not from the White House Communications Department, not from Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and not even former Fox News co-President Bill Shine – now the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications – but from Fox News itself, in an “exclusive” report.
“President Trump has canceled the White House holiday party for the media, making the decades-old tradition a victim of his increasingly contentious relationship with major news organizations,” Fox News reports.
Calling it “a significant perk for those covering the White House,” Fox News’ Howard Kurtz noted “the biggest fringe-benefit was the picture-taking sessions, in which the president and first lady would patiently pose with guests and briefly chat with them in front of a Christmas tree.”
Kurtz adds that the “White House made no announcement that it was dropping the press party. The president and first lady threw such a gathering last December but did not pose for pictures. Trump made a brief appearance with his wife and offered a few welcoming remarks.”
And he admits that Fox News, whose motto used to be “fair and balanced,” and, “We report, you decide,” “a few” of its hosts are now on the side of the Trump administration.
“While dropping the media party, the White House is in the midst of a full panoply of other parties this holiday season. Selected media people generally favorable to Trump, including a few Fox News hosts, have made those guest lists.”
