Republicans ‘Can’t Win on Issues’ Says Dick Durbin

Speaking on Meet The Press, Dick Durbin, the Senate Minority Whip, spoke about the upcoming midterms, saying that republicans can’t win on issues, “so they get personal.”
“Voters are listening for both political parties to say something other than a political squabble is underway in Washington,” said Durbin. “They’re looking for us to address the issues that affect them and their future: the cost of prescription drugs, whether they’ve saved enough money for retirement, making sure that health insurance is available and affordable.”
Durbin added, “These are things that drive the message home. The Republicans can’t win on those issues. So they get personal.”
Durbin highlighted the need to focus on issues, including protecting the coverage of pre-existing conditions in healthcare as well as Social Security and Medicare.
