After Meeting With School Shooting Survivors Trump Praises NRA Top Brass as ‘Great American Patriots’
‘They Love Our Country and Will Do the Right Thing’
After spending an hour on Wednesday with the survivors and families of the 17 people slaughtered in Parkland, Florida by a 19-year old who legally purchased a military style assault weapon, some were hoping President Donald Trump might have changed. The prevailing sentiment throughout the nation – especially among those who believe legislative action must be taken to protect students and teachers in schools, is the number one roadblock is the NRA.
So many are now furious over the president’s latest tweet. He just praised the NRA.
Specifically, the men in the photo above, taken when the NRA endorsed Trump for president. Minutes later, he told them in a speech, “I will never let you down.”
Thursday morning, after promising some proposals the NRA opposes – and one they embrace, arming teachers – Trump posted this tweet:
What many people don’t understand, or don’t want to understand, is that Wayne, Chris and the folks who work so hard at the @NRA are Great People and Great American Patriots. They love our Country and will do the right thing. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 22, 2018
If the president is so beholden to the NRA, and thinks they are “Great American Patriots” who “love our Country and will do the right thing,” how will America ever put an end to gun violence, especially school shootings?
