Trump Says Focus on His Son’s Emails Is ‘The Greatest Witch Hunt in Political History’
‘This Is the Greatest Witch Hunt in Political History. Sad!’
After publicly ignoring growing reports for days that revealed Donald Trump Jr. knowingly agreed to, arranged, and attended a meeting with a Russian government attorney for the purpose of obtaining compromising information on Hillary Clinton, President Donald Trump has finally switched in to high gear to defend his first born son.
At 6:19 AMÂ Wednesday, Trump took to Twitter to announce the focus on Donald Jr.’s emails, which the president’s son personally released via Twitter, is “the greatest Witch Hunt in political history.”
Donald Trump Jr., as The New York Times reported, responded, “I love it” when told in those emails, “The Crown prosecutor of Russia … offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.â€
Trump tweeted: “My son Donald did a good job last night. He was open, transparent and innocent. This is the greatest Witch Hunt in political history. Sad!”
It was a curious statement given that Trump has used the exact same phrase before, about himself:
This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!

You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history – led by some very bad and conflicted people! #MAGA

Trump was referring to Donald Jr.’s appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” Tuesday night, which the President announced, no doubt giving one of his greatest defenders and supporters huge ratings.
My son, Donald, will be interviewed by @seanhannity tonight at 10:00 P.M. He is a great person who loves our country!

During that interview Donald Jr. told Hannity, “Someone sent me an email. I can’t help what someone sends me. I read it, I responded accordingly.â€
Wednesday morning Trump also took a swipe at his favorite target:
Remember, when you hear the words “sources say” from the Fake Media, often times those sources are made up and do not exist.

On Tuesday, Trump released a statement through the White House Deputy Press Secretary, saying, “my son is a high quality person and I applaud his transparency.”
