Nightly Show On HERO: ‘Everything’s Bigger In Texas, Especially The Fear Of Progress’ (Video)
Larry Wilmore weighs in on the “cray cray” that defeated Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance.
Larry Wilmore Wednesday night took Texas to task for the defeat of Houston’s Equal Rights Ordnance. The Comedy Central host of The Nightly Show rightly noted that HERO would have protected 15 different groups from discrimination, but opponents ignored all that, opting to fearmonger by labeling it a “bathroom bill.”
The Nightly Show’s Grace Parra, a real-life Houston native, stood in front of a pair of public restrooms to offer the point of view of HERO’s opponents.
After saying that women don’t want men in the restroom stall next to them, Parra offered some actual truth.
“I’m in Texas,” Parra told Wilmore. “And everything’s bigger in Texas, especially the fear of progress. I mean, Imma be real with you, Larry. Nothing scares the shit out of us more.”
