Watch: Jon Stewart Dives Into Texas Pool Party Problem
Jon Stewart looks at the McKinney, Texas pool party, where a white cop pulled his gun on black teens at a community swimming pool.
Monday night Jon Stewart took on one of the top stories of the day, a Texas cop who violently attacked a Black teenaged girl, and who pulled his gun on Black teenaged boys, all because neighbors felt like they didn’t belong at the community swimming pool.
Some of the teenagers were guests, and according to witnesses, others had pool passes. They were having a daytime end-of-year party, but the racism associated with the residents and the police was evident.
Calling it “Summertime Sunny Time Slip n’ Slide,” Stewart wasn’t shy in his reactions to the cop.
“When I say Marco, you say polo, motherf*cker!” Stewart yelled, pretending to hold a gun. “Marco! Marco!”Â
The Daily Show’s Jessica Williams later sarcastically called the event, “progress,” since a white cop pulled his gun on black male teens and no one was shot or killed.
She also mocked that in Texas, when white people have guns it’s called open-carry, but when Black people have guns it’s called, “He’s got a gun! He’s got a gun!”
