Tweet Of The Day: National Organization For Marriage
This just may be one of the most curious tweets you’d never expect to see.Â
NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, has always aligned itself with the most radical of the Christian religious right. They have sung the praises of Tony Perkins, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, the American Family Association, and the Catholic Church.Â
But today, NOM saw fit to quote Dolce & Gabbana.
“The only family is the traditional one.” -Dolce & Gabbana http://t.co/MBBuwwVAqq

That link goes to a NOM 2014 blog post, oddly enough.
The tweet is perhaps, in retrospect not that stunning. The gay, fashion powerhouse, design team were both raised Italian and Catholic and profess to adhere to traditional values.Â
On Monday, NOM credited Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana – whom they say were “once romantically linked” as opposed to in a long-term relationship for decades – with advancing a “bold defense of the family.”Â
“Bravo to Dolce and Gabbana for daring to speak the truth; they are as bold in their speech as they are in their designs, and deserve to be applauded,” NOM writes on their blog. “While others will continue to vent their disagreement, the billionaire pair are wonderful advocates for the true definitions of marriage and family.”
But it also makes one wonder, is the Dolce & Gabbana tweet NOM’s latest attempt to align with and promote what they call the “glamorous non-cognitive elite“?
Some folks on Twitter are weighing in on NOM’s embrace of Dolce & Gabbana:
This is why the D&G controversy is a big deal. Their words are now being used to shore up the NOM arguments…. http://t.co/9TKTEgfZiQ
