Watch: First Same-Sex Couple Gets Marriage License In Vegas (Video)
Watch this exciting video of Theo Small and Antioco Carrillo becoming the first of 40 same-sex couples to be granted marriage licenses in Las Vegas, Nevada last night.
What started as a frustrating day for all at the Clark County Clerk’s office in Las Vegas, Nevada, ended with a federal judge finally signing an injunction after 5:00 PM, allowing licenses to be issued.
40 on the 1st day. Our Marriage License Bureau issued 40 marriage licenses to same-sex couples on Thursday. Day 2 starts at 8 am #Vegas

Theo Small and Antioco Carrillo, who were plaintiffs in the case that won marriage for Nevada, were first in line. By midnight, 40 licenses had been issued to same-sex couples in the “Marriage Capital of the World.”

But it was Nevada’s most-famous State Senator Kelvin Atkinson and his fiancé Sherwood Howard who became the first to marry in Las Vegas. Atkinson came out during Nevada’s Senate debate on marriage, and proposed on live TV Monday evening.

The Carson City Clerk’s office was the first to issue licenses, not waiting for the inevitable judge’s signature.Â
