Look: Hundreds Of Marriage Supporters Rally Ahead Of Today’s Major 10th Circuit Court Hearing
Hundreds of marriage equality supporters last night rallied in front of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, perhaps hoping a strong showing might persuade the federal judges to rule in their favor.
Today, a three judge panel will hear oral arguments in Utah’s same-sex marriage case. In December, federal judge Robert Shelby found Utah’s ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. The Supreme Court nine days later stayed his ruling. 1300 hundred couples legally married during that time.
The LGBT civil rights group One Colorado told The New Civil Rights Movement via email that speakers at last night’s rally included “openly gay state Senator Pat Steadman, Pam Thiele and Lauren Fortmiller (one of the very first couples to obtain a civil union license in CO last year), United Methodist clergywoman Rev. Laura Rossbert, local Republican leader Joe Megyesy, and One Colorado Executive Director Dave Montez.”
The New Civil Rights Movement will bring you news about today’s hearing throughout the day. Stay tuned!
