L.A.: Anti-Gay Bigotry Of Pastor Who Evicted Gays From Church (Video)
California Pastor Xavier Thompson, who evicted gay men and lesbians from his church this past week so the heterosexual members could discuss SB 48, California’s new FAIR Education Act. Yes, you heard right. Pastor Thompson actually asked all the gays and lesbians to leave, “voluntarily,” or be thrown out.
Mind you, SB 48, which Governor Jerry Brown signed into law, would merely ensure the accurate teaching of history to include the contributions of gay men and lesbians, and transgender and bisexual people too. Along with the disabled, and minorities. Yes, minorities, like — you guessed it — Pastor Thompson.
What’s just as bad, if not worse, as The New Civil Rights Movement reported a few days ago, is that Los Angeles news station KTLA actually broadcast a remarkably anti-gay and biased story, including a video clip of supposedly gay men dancing shirtless, as they discuss, “the homosexual agenda.” Pathetic.
Sadly, as a journalist, I find this reprehensible. KTLA is actually the oldest news station on the West Coast. What a sad, pathetic, slap in the face to journalism, not to mention, to fairness, and to the LGBT community.
Sean Chapin, a songwriter and videographer who became an advocate for LGBT equality when Prop 8 passed in California, produced this video in response to the anti-gay hate and bigotry from Pastor Thompson and from KTLA.

Chapin tells The New Civil Rights Movement, “I successfully petitioned the San Francisco Giants to join the It Gets Better Project earlier this year. Also, my video response to NOM’s Gathering Storm PSA went viral and was shown in part on CNN back in 2009, and my original song ‘United We Love‘ written days after Prop 8 passed is probably my most noteworthy original song for the movement (I performed it to a crowd of 7,000-10,000 in front of City Hall in San Francisco at the Join the Impact rally that occurred simultaneously with tons of other rallies across the nation).”
We’re glad to share Chapin’s work here and look forward to more!
