Ask The New York Times About Transgender Issues
Ask The New York Times About Transgender Issues.
Via The New York Times:
This week Dr. Laura Erickson-Schroth, who is working on “Trans Bodies, Trans Selves,†a resource guide for transgender and other gender-variant people, covering health, legal issues, cultural and social questions, history and theory, will be responding to readers’ questions about transgender life.
The original post is here. The first set of answers published today is here. Looks like Dr. Erickson-Schroth chose a broad range of questions, including, “What’s the difference between transgender and transsexual?” and “How can the medical profession be more culturally competent toward its transgender patients?” — an important question given last week’s “Gays more likely to have mental illnesses” yellow journalism from the Times of India.
I assume this runs through Friday, so I’d hurry up and ask away!
