Pat McCrory Pulls Another Fast One
North Carolina Governor Proves He’s Playing Politics and Can’t Be Trusted
One day after signing a feckless executive order responding to nationwide backlash against anti-LGBT law HB2, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory pulled another fast one. He released a statement early Tuesday morning that he would hold a press conference and deliver a “special announcement” at 9:00 AM today.
News outlets, including NCRM, reported the press conference announcement, giving McCrory a great deal of attention nationwide.
JUST IN: North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory is set to make a “special announcement” this morning. https://t.co/nYaaY5Xtxr

What did Gov. McCrory announce?
His nominee to be the next director of the State Bureau of Investigation.
Granted, an important announcement, but one that citizens and the media deserved to be told about ahead of time – not held hostage believing he would respond to the national outrage his executive order provoked.
McCrory’s executive order does almost nothing to fix HB2. It does not roll back or repeal its most onerous elements. Every LGBT legal right group that weighed in panned it as a political ploy and wholly unacceptable.
So was this morning’s stunt.
Pat McCrory just proved he’s playing games and not taking the citizens of his state seriously, again.
Voters in November should respond in kind.
Some responses via Twitter:
McCrory described today as a “historic occasion.” He then announced his pick for the next director of the SBI.

McCrory to announce his SBI chief pick, an important role given all the bathrooms NC is policing. #ncpol #ncga #hb2 https://t.co/9Xw7icCHWh
