Daily Briefing: 5 Things for Friday – Did Trump Admit to Firing Comey Because of Russia Investigation?
5 Things You Need to Know for Today
Happy Friday!
We’re nearing the end of what some are calling Trump’s worst week ever – and he’s had a lot of very bad weeks.
Here are 5 things you need to know for today:
- There are, for the 7th day in a row, few items on President Donald Trump’s schedule. But on Saturday Trump will deliver the commencement address at the far right wing Liberty University. (Politico)
- Thursday’s disastrous interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, in which he admits to conflating the Russia investigation with the firing Jim Comey, some say proves intent to interfere with an ongoing investigation. (NCRM)
- Associates of Jim Comey say Trump tried to strongarm a pledge of personal loyalty to Trump over dinner in late January, but Comey refused. Apparently, they believe that laid the groundwork for Comey’s firing: Trump couldn’t count on Comey protecting him. (New York Times)
- Sean Spicer, who said almost nothing accurate or truthful on the Comey firing, returns to the podium today for a 1:30 press briefing.
