Breaking: The Democratic National Committee Headquarters Was (Probably) Bugged
‘An Episode Reminiscent of Watergate’
The Washington, D.C. headquarters of the Democratic National Committee was apparently bugged. Mother Jones just published an exclusive report, stating “the Democratic Party recently informed the FBI that it had collected evidence suggesting its Washington headquarters had been bugged.”
Mother Jones’Â Washington bureau chief David Corn likens it to “an episode reminiscent of Watergate.”
In October a sweep of the DNC offices on South Capitol Street “found a radio signal near the chairman’s office that indicated there might be a listening device outside the office,” Corn writes.
“We were told that this was something that could pick up calls from cell phones,” a DNC official says. “The guys who did the sweep said it was a strong indication.” No device was recovered.
The DNC notified the FBI of its findings and submitted the technical details of its investigation.
