Ed Helms: ‘Chick-Fil-A doesn’t like gay people? So lame… Lost a loyal fan.’
Ed Helms, star of “The Office” and “The Hangover,” said today via Twitter that Chick-Fil-A‘s anti-gay policy is “lame,” and says the 1600-outlet fast food giant just “lost a loyal fan.”
Recently, Chick-Fil-A has come under increasing scrutiny after it was revealed they treat the bible like an operations manual and their extreme Christian stance has led them to donate $5 million over the past few years to organizations working to derail same-sex marriage.
“Chick-Fil-A doesn’t like gay people? So lame. Hate to think what they do to the gay chickens! Lost a loyal fan,” Helms said.
TMZ adds:
Helms ain’t alone … the gay rights campaign NOH8 — supported by stars like Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan and the Kardashians — has also called for a Chick-fil-A boycott.
Recently, Chick-Fil-A president and COO Dan Cathy came out swinging against marriage equality:
I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.
