Trump Declares ‘DACA is Probably Dead’ as Administration Complies with Court Order to Resume Program
‘Democrats Don’t Really Want It ‘
The Trump administration is complying with the court order to resume accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Despite this, Donald Trump attacked the program and Democrats in an early AM Twitter tantrum.
“The Trump administration announced Saturday that it is complying with a federal court order by again allowing so-called ‘Dreamers’ to renew their quasi-legal status and work permits they enjoyed under a program that started in 2012,†Politico reported late Saturday.
Citing an update posted by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a division of the Department of Homeland Security, Politico noted that “the renewal process for recipients of Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals will resume effective immediately, despite the administration’s announcement in September that it was winding down the Obama-era initiative.â€
“Due to a federal court order, USCIS has resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA,†the update reads. “Until further notice, and unless otherwise provided in this guidance, the DACA policy will be operated on the terms in place before it was rescinded on Sept. 5, 2017.â€
The news didn’t stop the president’s latest Twitter tantrum, however. After attacking the Wall Street Journal for “misquoting†him – they’d already released the audio – he turned to DACA early Sunday.
“DACA is probably dead because the Democrats don’t really want it,†Trump lied, “they just want to talk and take desperately needed money away from our Military.â€

“I, as President, want people coming into our Country who are going to help us become strong and great again,†he continued, “people coming in through a system based on MERIT. No more Lotteries! #AMERICA FIRSTâ€

The tweets follow the latest controversy surrounding immigration stemming from the president. You know the one.
As of late Saturday, Politico also noted, “the Justice Department has yet to file an appeal or request a stay of the four-day-old injunction†on DACA.
