BREAKING: Anti-Gay Marriage, Domestically Violent NY State Senator Gets Kicked Out?
Hiram Monserrate, the New York State Senator who was recently convicted of assault in a case where he slashed his girlfriend with a broken glass then dragged her by her hair through his apartment lobby to drive her to a far-away hospital so he wouldn’t be recognized, has just been recommended for expulsion or at least censure by a special New York Senate committee, according to 1010WINS.
Monserrate is best know on these pages as having been instrumental in shutting down the New York State Senate this summer, along with fellow Senator Pedro Espada, who, unsurprisingly is also facing ethics charges, his for campaign finance violations.
Monserrate is one of the now-famous Hate 38, who voted against the New York same-sex marriage bill. His vote was especially vicious, having taken a great deal of campaign donations from the LGBT community, and having supported the bill up until his “no” vote.
Many, including the New York Times, have called for his ouster.
