LOOK: J.K. Rowling’s Tweet on Trump and #InternationalWomensDay Wins the Internet
Here’s How Rowling Decided to Throw Trump’s Remarks Right Back at Him
J.K. Rowling is never short of the desire to advance the cause of social justice. On International Women’s Day the famed Harry Potter author took to her very active Twitter account to put President Donald Trump in his place.
In a surprise move the American president had posted two tweets in support of women, but his long history of misogyny and sexual assault bragging traveled with him to the White House, so there was no escaping the feelings many voiced of his hypocrisy.
“I have tremendous respect for women and the many roles they serve that are vital to the fabric of our society and our economy,” Trump had tweeted. “On International Women’s Day, join me in honoring the critical role of women here in America & around the world.”
Here’s how Rowling decided to throw Trump’s remarks right back at him:

@jk_rowling He respects women as long as they sit on a shelf and look gorgeous, ready to be grabbed at will. He is disgusting.

@jk_rowling @IzJustMyOpinion Trump is an embarrassment to this country and to the world
