Father Allegedly Murdered Son Because He’s Gay – Victim Decried ‘Inhumane Treatment’ By Family
Son Posted Statement on Facebook Just Weeks Ago Lamenting Family’s Treatment of Him
A Los Angeles man was arrested Friday for the hate crime murder of his own son. Shehada Khalil Issa, 69, according to prosecutors, is alleged to have killed Amier Issa (photo, also spelled Amir Issa on Facebook) by shooting him with a shotgun at least two times, including in the face. The victim’s mother was found stabbed to death inside the home. Police are still investigating her murder.
“The suspect made incriminating statements implicating himself in the death of (the son) and was arrested for murder,†Operations Valley Bureau homicide Detective John Doerbecker told the Los Angeles Daily News. “He claimed (the son) was armed with a knife, and there was no knife to be found (there). “It was a horrible family tragedy,†he added.
Prosecutors also allege that the murder was committed because of the victim’s sexual orientation and because of the victims’ association with a person and a group of that status, considered a hate crime, prosecutors said.
They said Issa had allegedly threatened to kill his son on earlier occasions because he was gay.
On what the New York Daily News identifies as the victim’s Facebook page, Amir Issa just weeks ago on March 19 detailed what he called “inhumane treatment” and “inhumane slavery” by his family.
“Every day I wake up feeling like my sister or brother or mother or father is literally controlling me in my sleep. I have no free will,” the somewhat rambling post reads. “If there is a devil or evil spirit, I truly believe it manifests itself in my family.”
“I dont want to be related to any of these people..nor their relatives watching and advocating this inhumane treatment. They have literally robbed my bank account, lied to courts and doctor to try and label me as mentally ill and failed in their attempts to have me falsely imprisoned and evicted. My doctors certified that i have no mental illness and the courts have cleared my good name and I do not have a criminal record. I successfully passed a background check. If there are any good people on this earth, please help free me from this inhumane slavery.”
In the post, Amir writes he is a member of a local Seventh day adventist church.
“Please help rid this world of the demons that attack me. I have changed all of my life insurance and work retirement investments to go to the church I was born in, the Seventh day adventist church of glendale. I dont believe one religion is better or more true than another but would like to have a family that attends church regularly and doesnt punish my thoughts or actions if I am a good persob [sic]…which I know I am. I am paying it forward to the church..tithing over hundreds of thousands of dollars to them for this life and the next. In Christs name. AMEN.”
