Breaking: 21st Century Fox, Time Warner Now Join Disney, Viacom, AMC Opposing Georgia Anti-Gay Bill
Major Studios Urge Governor To Veto ‘Religious Freedom’ Bill
21st Century Fox and Time Warner are calling on Georgia’s Gov. Nathan Deal to veto anti-gay legislation that claims to be a “religious freedom” bill. These major corporations do business in the Peach State, including Time Warner’s HBO, Warner Bros., and Turner, which includes Atlanta-based CNN.
“On behalf of 21st Century Fox’s many creative partners and colleagues who choose to film their projects in the beautiful state of Georgia, we join the growing coalition of businesses in asking Governor Deal to veto this bill,” Fox said, according to CNN’s Brian Stelter.
The corporations did not say they would leave the state, as others have done.Â
Georgia enjoys a $1.7 billion entertainment industry.

“On Wednesday several other major media companies – Disney (DIS), Viacom (VIA) and AMC Networks (AMCX) — publicly opposed the bill. Other firms like Apple (AAPL, Tech30), Dell, Hilton(HLT) and Marriott (MAR) have also spoken out,” Stelter notes.
Among the media companies, Disney has gone the furthest. It pledged to “take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law.”
Earlier today, 34 entertainment industry leaders signed a letter urging Gov. Deal to veto the bill as well.
