Watch: Daily’s Show’s Focus Group Reveals Why People Are Voting For Donald Trump
Admit it: You really want to know why people are voting for Donald Trump. “The Daily Show” can now help answer your question.
If there’s one ongoing question many Americans have this presidential race season, it’s why Donald Trump is so popular.
The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper decided to find out.
After assembling a focus group of seven die-hard Trump supporters, Klepper did his level best to understand the reasoning that went into their choice of best person to be president, and asked the tough question: “Why?”
“He’s not a politician,” one man responded.Â
“He’s not going to take any crap from anybody,” said another.
“He has no filters,” one woman said, acknowledging that she sees that as a positive. “Do you want a President that walks on eggshells, and, not wanting to hurt this community or that community?,” she asked.Â
Klepper responded, “Yes.”
“Did he say every single person who comes across our borders are criminals, rapists and drug dealers?,” she challenged. “I believe he said a majority of them. And they’re not disputing that. Nobody’s disputing the figures. Look at the people that are coming across the border illegally. Are the vast majority reputable people that want to give to the community?”
Klepper responded, “Yes.”
She went on to say “a vast majority” are smuggling drugs and raping women.
“I think the vast majority of your statistics are bullshit,” Klepper responded.
Moving on to Trump’s call to ban all Muslims from entering America, another man said it had nothing to do with their religious beliefs.
When it came time to find the line that Trump would have to cross to lose their support, a Muslim database wouldn’t do it.
A database of Jews, however, bumped five from Trump.
Finally, the one thing that would do it. For some.
Maybe.
“For some reason, Trump, the more bizarre he gets, the more people like him,” said one supporter. “I’m one of those people.”
Why?
He couldn’t answer.
But the answer has been in front of America since the day Trump announced he is running for President: His supporters love to hate.Â
