Trump Warns a Future Democratic President Might Get Impeached ‘Because Somebody Picked an Orange Out of a Refrigerator’

President Donald Trump is warning Democrats to reconsider impeaching him because at some point in the future House Republicans may decide to impeach a Democratic president for no reason at all – or maybe for retribution.

Speaking for nearly an hour while at NATO the American President suggested wrongly Democrats have no constitutional reason to pass articles of impeachment – and used a rather colorful and odd metaphor to make his point.

After saying, “the Democrats have gone crazy,” Trump issued his warning.

“Hopefully in the very long distant future you’ll have a Democrat president. You’ll have a Republican House,” Trump told reporters. “They’ll do the same thing. Because somebody picked an orange out of a refrigerator and you don’t like it, so let’s go and impeach him. It’s no good. That’s not the way our country is supposed to be run.”

In fact, his conversations were far from perfect. The Democrats’ case for impeachment is remarkably strong, given that both Trump and his chief of staff have admitted the extortion.

The House Intelligence Committee released its impeachment report about one hour after the president’s remarks.

House Democrat Says She Will File Articles to Impeach Trump by End of Month

A freshman Democratic Member of Congress says she will file articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump by the end of the month, The Hill is reporting. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) told reporters Wednesday (video below) that “this is an emergency,” and that her constituents feel a “sense of urgency” in impeaching the president.

Rep. Tlaib described the 2018 election as one in which “the people wanted to elect the jury in the impeachment proceedings.”

She also described the president’s actions as “a wall,” and “a constitutional crisis” that’s barring Members of Congress from doing their jobs.

“Remember, this is setting a precedent,” she added, as NBC News reports. “If we don’t hold impeachment proceedings today, start them today and hold him accountable to following the United States Constitution, think about that, this is not going to be the last CEO that runs for president of the United States.”

Despite warnings from some more senior Democrats, Tlaib said, “I think every single colleague of mine agrees that there are impeachable offenses.”

Tlaib was criticized by some in January for her remarks calling for impeachment, saying, Democrats were going to “impeach the motherf—er.”

Filing articles of impeachment would be just the first of many steps. There does not appear to be sufficient support in the House to impeach the President yet, as many are awaiting the Mueller report.
