WHITEWASHING HISTORY FOR PERSONAL POLITICAL GAIN

Nikki Haley: Confederate Flag Not About Racism – It Was About ‘Service, Sacrifice, Heritage’ Until Dylann Roof ‘Hijacked’ It

Nikki Haley just delivered a stunning whitewashing of history in an interview with right wing extremist and conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck. The former Trump Ambassador to the UN and former South Carolina Republican Governor falsely claimed the Confederate flag had nothing to do with racism. The flag represented the Confederate states who fought against the United States of America in a civil war to protect the sin of slavery. To this day is is a stain on the nation.

Not according to Haley.

People saw the Confederate flag “as service, and sacrifice, and heritage,” Haley told Beck, lamenting that mass shooter and mass murder Dylan Roof “hijacked” the Confederate flag when he held it up in photos that spread online as part of his manifesto. Roof is a white supremacist who massacred nine people, all Black, in a Charleston, South Carolina church during a Bible study meeting.

Haley, who some believe is laying the groundwork to be a possible 2020 vice presidential candidate to replace Mike Pence, also claims in the interview that there’s very little hate or racism in South Carolina, which is demonstrably false. She has recently upped her profile and moved more to the racist right.
