GOP Mass Exodus Continues as Republican Congressman Citing Family and ‘Signs From God’ Suddenly Quits

Yet another House Republican has just quit Congress. Five-term U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin, citing family needs and “signs from God” just issued a statement announcing he is quitting Congress. Duffy, a former reality TV show contest, says he will leave the House next month.

“Being away from home in Washington four days a week is challenging and for that reason, I have always been open to signs from God when it comes to balancing my desire to serve both my family and my country,” Rep. Duffy wrote on Facebook.

‘Recently, we’ve learned that our baby, due in late October, will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition. With much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby and family need right now. It is not an easy decision – because I truly love being your Congressman – but it is the right decision for my family, which is my first love and responsibility.”

Duffy mentions his role in “the most important battles of our time: protecting freedom of speech and religious liberty, taking care of our veterans, defending the unborn, and saving American jobs and American capitalism.”

Rep.Duffy won re-election last year with 60% of the vote. He is the 13th Republican to leave the House during this session of Congress. Only three Democrats have announced they are leaving.

In 2017 Duffy said acts of terror committed by Islamic extremists are “different” than those committed by white, presumably Christian extremists. He also praised “the good things” that came out of the hate crime mass shooting at a Charleston church by a white supremacist.

Duffy, considered a Libertarian-Leaning Conservative, strongly favors gun ownership as an “absolute right.” He opposes same-sex marriage, and he opposes ObamaCare – which helps protect pregnant women and families.

He is married to Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy, with whom he has eight children.
