White Supremacist Steve King Barred From Air Force One

Too Toxic Even for Trump

U.S. Republican Congressman Steve King of Iowa, best known for his bigoted and racist remarks and support of white supremacism, has been banned from flying with the President aboard Air Force One.

President Donald Trump traveled to King’s home state on Tuesday. Rep. King asked the White House if he could travel back home with the President but “administration officials rejected the request,” according to CNN. Trump instead invited Senator Joni Ernst, Republican of Iowa, and Senator Deb Fischer, Republican of Nebraska.

King was stripped of all committee assignments after national outrage over his remarks that supported white supremacism.

“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” Congressman King had said in an interview with The New York Times. In that article the Times noted that Rep. King “has used racist language in the past, promotes neo-Nazis on Twitter and was recently denounced by one Republican leader as a white supremacist.”

King has a very long history of racist and anti-LGBT bigotry. Until his Times interview he was perhaps best known for accusing undocumented teen immigrant boys of having “calves the size of cantaloupes” from “running drugs across the Mexican border.”

In the decade NCRM has covered Congressman King he has compared transgender troops in the U.S. Military to eunuchs. He has said gay people are “condemned to hell.” He believes it should be legal to fire people for being gay, and has advocated for gay people to lie and say they are straight to avoid being fired.

In 2014 he expressed fear that Hurricane Sandy victims would spend money they might receive from FEMA on “Gucci bags and massage parlors.” He has likened liberals, progressives, and socialists to “Maoists” and “Marists” while declaring all of them “enemies” of America. King has also compared Democrats to Nazis.
