Chicago Police have just announced that “Empire” star Jussie Smollett is “now officially classified as a suspect” in a felony criminal investigation for “filing a false police report.”
“Detectives are currently presenting evidence before a Cook County Grand Jury,” Chicago Police Dept. spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi says, via Twitter.
Smollett insists he was attacked by two men who tied a noose around his neck and poured bleach over him as they shouted racist and homophobic slurs. He also says they told him, “This is MAGA country,” referring to President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
UPDATE: JUSSIE SMOLLETT EXPECTED TO SURRENDER TO FACE FELONY CHARGE
