Watch Live: Trump Expected to Make Rose Garden Address on Shutdown Soon

According to multiple reports the White House is setting up a Rose Garden event, which is not on the President’s schedule. See below for live-streaming video which is expected to start shortly.

MSNBC reporters and others are suggesting the President may announce support for a temporary reopening of the government, ending the GOP shutdown of the federal government that’s lasted 35 days, causing 800,000 federal workers to go without pay for a month. Many of them have been forced to work regardless of not being paid.

Some are saying the temporary “ground stop” – halting, delaying, and re-routing – at three top airports after FAA traffic controllers calling out sick or too exhausted to function, may have been convinced the President the shutdown was not sustainable.

If Trump does support an end to the shutdown, the House and Senate would still have to pass the appropriate bills, and Trump would have to sign them.

UPDATE: 1:12 PM – MSNBC just added the event will be an opportunity for reporters to ask Trump what he will support as a way forward to end the shutdown. It’s still unclear what that is.
