Trump’s Commerce Secretary: ‘I Don’t Quite Understand Why’ Federal Workers Need to Go to Food Banks to Feed Their Families

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says he does not understand why federal workers who haven’t been paid in weeks need to take advantage of food banks at homeless shelters to feed their families.

“I know they are, and I don’t really quite understand why,” Ross told CNBC Thursday morning, as RollCall reports. “Because, as I mentioned before, the obligations that they would undertake, say borrowing from a bank or a credit union are in effect federally guaranteed.”

“So the 30 days of pay that some people will be out, there’s no real reason why they shouldn’t be able to get a loan against it.”

That’s largely false. And even if they are able to get loans, they will have to pay interest on those loans, which can also affect their credit ratings adversely.

Ross reportedly is a multi-billionaire, although some reports place his wealth at $700 million.

Here’s the video of the Commerce Secretary’s remarks:

Watch: For Over 2 Minutes Betsy DeVos Totally Ignores Reporter Offering Opportunity to Defend Gutting Special Olympics

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has been in hot water for days after she admitted to Congress her budget eliminates all funding for Special Olympics programs. She was called in front of the Senate again earlier Thursday to defend the cuts and other radical budgetary decisions.

On Wednesday DeVos slammed the media and Democrats, falsely claiming they were mischaracterizing her budget proposals, which led to mockery since their characterizations were correct.

Calling it “disgusting” and “shameful” on Thursday DeVos yelled at Democratic Members of Congress, falsely accusing them of using “disabled children in a twisted way for your political narrative.”

The Education Secretary has made clear she is angry and portraying herself as the victim of the media, and yet, here is CNN reporter Ryan Nobles offering DeVos the opportunity to tell her side of the story in front of cameras, ans she totally ignores him.

Nobles tried for well over two minutes to get Secretary DeVos to talk with him after she finished her testimony before the Senate. He caught her with an aide heading toward the elevators and followed them.

“Do you feel Democrats are accurately describing your feelings about the Special Olympics funding, Madam Secretary?”

“Madam Secretary, do you have any response to Democrats’ criticism of your budget proposal?”

“Madam Secretary, you said today you were not the person who proposed this funding change. Can you explain who in your administration did?”

“Madam Secretary have you spoken to the President about this at all?”

All those, and more, totally ignored,

Watch as she refuses to speak and refuses to answer any of his very valid questions:
