Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is weighing in on Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross‘ offensive and out of touch remarks.
The supposed billionaire who is worth between $700 million and $2.9 billion told CNBC Thursday morning, “I don’t quite understand why” furloughed federal workers were forced to go to food banks to feed their families.
“I don’t know, is this the ‘Let them eat cake’ type of attitude,” Pelosi said critically, “Or call your father for money? Or, this is character building for you? ‘Oh, it’s all going to end up very well, just as long as you don’t get your paychecks?’” Pelosi said.
“’I don’t understand, I don’t quite understand why,’ she said, mocking the Commerce Secretary’s comments, “as hundreds of thousands of men and women are about to miss a second paycheck tomorrow,” the Speaker added.
