Trump Blasted for Being ‘Only President at the Bush Funeral Not Reciting the Prayers’
Wednesday’s State Funeral for President George H.W. Bush at the National Cathedral included a number of religious observances, including songs and prayers.
The event, in its second hour now, has been carried live across many television stations, and many are watching.
Notable during the event has been President Donald Trump‘s refusal to even acknowledge former President Bill Clinton or former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Others took to social media to blast the current occupant of the White House for claiming to be a devout Christian, while, as one person wrote, being “the only president at the Bush funeral not reciting the prayers.”
CNN’s Keith Boykin captured one example in this video clip:
This is your “Christian” evangelical president. pic.twitter.com/u0478FoSyR

Here are some other reactions:
Hmmm. Obama seems to have no problem recalling the words to the prayers at church. Meanwhile Trump cannot. Your move, #evangelicals

Question for the religious people that love trump:
Why is he the only president at the Bush funeral not reciting the prayers???— Tsunami (@anthonytkaz) December 5, 2018
Some Christian. #Trump and #FLOTUS literally the only people in that church not following along with the prayer. pic.twitter.com/tWomigcDrx

Did the evangelicals notice how Donald trump doesn’t say the Profession of Faith or any responses? He said no prayers, he sang no hymns. He is a disgusting boar

Now, I’m not one to judge regarding religion, it’s such a personal decision. Did anyone else notice that at GHWB’s funeral service, Trump didn’t recite the community prayer (“I believe in God…”) I wonder what the evangelicals will say about that.

Trump did not join in the Nicene Creed or the prayers. What, he’s too good to declare faith, or pray? What a toad.

Who can possibly believe Donald Trump is a Churchgoer? Either he can’t be bothered to recite prayer, or doesn’t know how. https://t.co/XiOM0awHIv
