Mattis Out

President Donald Trump has just announced, in a tweet, that Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis “will be retiring, with distinction, at the end of February.”
The news comes one day after Trump announced he is pulling troops out of Syria, that ISIS has been defeated, and about an hour after he said he wanted to pull troops out of Afghanistan.
News has been swirling that the two men have grown apart in recent months. Pundits are suggesting Mattis chose today to make a statement.
….equipment. General Mattis was a great help to me in getting allies and other countries to pay their share of military obligations. A new Secretary of Defense will be named shortly. I greatly thank Jim for his service!
