‘The Alpha in the Room’
Likely Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just concluded a stunning, nationally televised Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. It devolved quickly into a sparring match after Trump posited several lies about the border wall, including that a large portion of it has already been built (no new sections have been built.)
At one point the president tried to belittle Pelosi, saying to the cameras, “Nancy’s in a situation where it’s not easy for her to talk,” suggesting she might not yet have enough votes to become Speaker.
“Mr. President, please don’t characterize the strength that I bring to this meeting as the leader of the House Democrats who just won a big victory,” she chastised.
Later, Trump exploded, threatening the two top Democrats he would shut down the government if they do not grant him funds to build his wall.
By the time the meeting was over, trump said he would “proudly” own the shutdown.
He was fuming mad, and Pelosi was clearly the winner.
On social media Leader Pelosi was hailed as a hero with “guts.”
