Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has just announced that Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has her support to become the next Speaker of the House.
“All the challenges to Leader Pelosi are coming from her right, in an apparent effort to make the party even more conservative and bent toward corporate interests,” Ocasio-Cortez, a rising star in the Democratic Party, said on Twitter.
“Hard pass. So long as Leader Pelosi remains the most progressive candidate for Speaker, she can count on my support.”
She wasn’t done yet.
A former waitress, bartender, and educator who ran a groundbreaking campaign that resonated with working and middle-class people, she added a dose of wisdom, essentially saying change for the sake of change solves nothing.
And she urged the party to get back to focusing on the priorities that won them the House:
