Pelosi Says ‘Our Diversity Is Our Strength’ as Democrats Officially Nominate Her to Be Speaker of the House
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi took a moment Wednesday afternoon to speak with reporters as Democrats gathered to vote for their nominee to become the next Speaker of the House.
Pelosi won the nomination, as the AP has just reported.
“Our diversity is our strength,” Pelosi said of the incoming Democratic House caucus.”

“In the course of these last days and weeks, it has been my privilege to listen to new members, listen to our members who have been here a while, hear their views about how we go forward,” she added.
The full House will vote January 3 for Speaker.
UPDATE: 3:16 PM ET –
The official vote count was 203-32. Pelosi will need to get to 218 in January.
