‘Buckle Up Buttercup’: Trump Mocked for False Claim Democratic ‘Harassment’ Is Harming Stock Market

President Donald Trump has no public appointments on his schedule Monday, Veterans Day, and is not expected to even visit Arlington Cemetery to honor the troops today. But he is tweeting up a storm, and getting a good deal of pushback, including on his false claim that Florida’s ballots are “massively infected” as he demands the Sunshine State’s Senate and governor’s seats should just be handed to Republicans.

But another tweet is getting a lot of attention, especially for its curious wording.

Last week Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell coined a new phrase for what Democrats will be able to do now that they have won the House. Instead of calling the constitutional system of checks and balances “oversight,” the Kentucky Republican referred to it as “presidential harassment.”

One week later, Trump has now grabbed on to that phrase and is using it to defend himself – and change the viewpoint of his supporters.

“The prospect of Presidential Harassment by the Dems is causing the Stock Market big headaches!” Trump tweeted later Monday morning.

That’s false on every level.

“Stock-market analysts have attributed factors including the Fed’s interest-rate strategy and Trump’s own trade wars for the recent stock-market volatility,” MarketWatch, a respected financial news outlet, reports.
