Kellyanne Conway is supporting President Donald Trump’s call to investigate the anonymous author of a bombshell anti-Trump New York Times op-ed, and says that the writer could be investigated for criminal activity.

“There can be an investigation if there is criminal activity, perhaps,” Conway told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union,” as The Hill reported (video below).

“There doesn’t appear to be any” criminal activity, Tapper reminded her.

“”I don’t know that. I don’t think you know that,” Conway insisted. “It really would depend on what else has been divulged by the individual. Anybody who would do this, you don’t know what else they’re saying.”

In other words, Conway is supporting the administration’s belief that it is acceptable to use the Dept. of Justice as the president’s personal police force, with zero evidence, to suppress dissent. She is suggesting, without evidence, that because someone inside the White House opposes the president, they very well may have committed criminal acts.

The author of the op-ed was identified by The New York Times only as “a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure.”

“I have literally no idea, nor do you, what else this person has divulged. I think somebody so cowardly and so conceited would probably –” Conway said, until Tapper interjected, reminding her that investigations are not conducted on hypothetical behavior.

A video on social media depicting several police officers beating a 20-year old woman on a New Jersey beach while holding her down has gone viral, being viewed over two million times today. Despite repeatedly hitting her in the head, the officers decided the woman, a minor, who was at the beach with her 18-month old child and boyfriend, assaulted them. According to the NY Post, the officers charged Emily Weinman with two counts of aggravated assault on an officer, and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

In her Facebook post, which has since been removed, Weinman admits there was alcohol around her, but makes clear she didn’t have any. Despite that, she took a breathalyzer test, which she says she passed. But even then, police would not leave her alone.

“They still stayed, the one cop following me when I walked away to go make a phone call after they did what they had to do,” Weinman wrote on Facebook. “Therefore I asked them don’t they have something better to do as cops than to stop people for underage drinking on the beach, saying to that there’s so much more serious stuff going on… the cop said, ‘I was gonna let you go but now I’ll write you up’ and he asked my name.”

Weinman says she was so afraid of the officers she refused to give them her name, saying she had done nothing wrong, and had already acquiesced to their demands.

The officers “have been taken off the street pending a probe into their actions, officials said Sunday,” according to The Post. The paper says the “54-second video clip posted online shows one of the cops punching Weinman in the head, then flipping her over with his forearm across her neck before she was subdued with the help of another cop.”

One of the officers can be seen holding her down by her ankles while the other officer beats her.

Wildwood, New Jersey Police Chief Regalbuto “stated that while he finds this video to be alarming, he does not want to rush to any judgement until having the final results of the investigation,” the Dept. wrote on Facebook.

Video posted to Facebook and Twitter over the weekend showed a police officer in Wildwood, N.J. punching a woman who appears to be much smaller than him.

NJ.com reported that the video shows the officer punching a woman in the head as people around her shout, “Stop resisting.” The video was recorded Saturday afternoon and by Sunday afternoon, it had been viewed on Facebook more than 140,000 times.

In her Facebook post, Emily Weinman explains that she decided to take her daughter to the beach. Weinman admits that alcohol was near her vicinity, and officers asked her to take a breathalyzer test, which she passed.

Weinman says that she refused to give him her name out of fear.

“I’m not gonna give him my information knowing I didn’t do anything wrong. He told me he’s arresting me and started coming towards me to put handcuffs on me,” she recalls. “I tripped and fell and the cop tackled me to the ground and smashed my head into the sand. At that point I blacked out and fought any way possible trying to get up and push him off me. Thats when he head locked me me by his arm around my neck, punched on me in my head and then he head locked me again but this time choking me.”

Weinman goes on to say that she would have given the officer her name “if I took even a sip.”

NJ.com asked Wildwood Commissioner Pete Byron for a comment on the case but he declined to respond.
