RNC Spokesperson Doesn’t Understand How Primaries Work, Gets Mocked Mercilessly on Social Media

The top spokesperson for the Republican National Committee made several embarrassing comments Tuesday night, revealing she doesn’t understand how primaries work, and paid the price by being mocked mercilessly on social media.

Kayleigh McEnany has a Harvard Law degree, but that didn’t stop her from making ridiculous remarks after 28-year old political newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unseated 10-term Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in Tuesday’s primary race.

It all started after President Trump posted a ludicrous tweet, claiming Crowley lost because he wasn’t nice enough to the far right extremist president.

But Ocasio-Cortez is much further to the left of Crowley, so Trump’s claim was ignorant at best. It wasn’t that Crowley lost because he wasn’t conservative enough, he lost, in part, because he wasn’t progressive enough.

Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She ran on a platform of Medicare for all, free public college, abolishing ICE, and guaranteed federal jobs.

In response to Trump’s tweet, McEnany wrote:

Since Ocasio-Cortez won in one district, a very diverse and progressive New York district, McEnany’s remark made little sense.

Politico’s Jake Sherman challenged her ignorant comment:

So McEnany responded with another inane remark:

Again, we’re talking about one candidate in one very progressive district, not the whole country.

Sherman tried to explain why her remarks were ridiculous:

McEnany just dug in deeper, suggesting that one primary race applied to the entire Democratic Party:

On Twitter many mocked McEnany’s ignorance:
