President Donald Trump’s pardon of anti-gay, anti-Obama, anti-Parkland students far right wing conspiracy theorist Dinesh D’Souza has generated outrage and concern over his use of presidential pardons. Many believe Trump was sending a strong message to any who might be in a position to testify against him. Others note Trump’s pardons appear to be attacks on Jim Comey.
But D’Souza himself inadvertently offered yet another reason for Trump’s pardon of the pundit which left some wondering if it’s quid pro quo. D’Souza says Trump said he wants his voice, advocating for his extremist principles.
D’Souza told “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning (video below) about the call he received from President Trump telling him he was issuing a full pardon.
“The president said, ‘Dinesh, you’ve been a great voice for freedom,'” D’Souza says Trump told him. “And he said that, ‘I got to tell you, man-to-man, you’ve been screwed.’ He goes, ‘I’ve been looking at the case. I knew from the beginning that it was fishy.’ But he said upon reviewing it he felt a great injustice had been done, and that using his power he was going to rectify it, sort of clear the slate. And he said he just wanted me to be out there to be a bigger voice than ever, defending the principles that I believe in.”
D’Souza went on to claim he was singled out by the Obama administration for his political views. He confessed to and was convicted of campaign finance fraud, and escaped jail time.
D’Souza has repeatedly attacked gay people. Last year he tweeted that Hitler – who was responsible for the slaughter of millions of LGBT people – was not anti-gay.
