Anti-Gay Fliers Plastered Across Public Areas of California City

Anti-gay fliers are being plastered across several public areas in Palo Alto, California just as residents are celebrating Pride week. The perpetrator of the attacks is unknown.

The fliers accuse LGBT parents of sexually abusing their children, and point to a variety of books that discuss LGBT issues, calling them “poison.”

“Part of what a father does is to protect his children. Someone is trying to seduce your kids sexually. This is happening here, now,” one, first seen on Father’s Day, reads.

The fliers “were found all over Mitchell Park–in the bathrooms by the tennis court, magical bridge playground, and at a nearby crosswalk,” KRON reports.

Another says, “Do you understand what is being done to your children? This poison is for them,” it reads, pointing to the local library. It contains images of book covers on LGBT related issues.

“The mayor of Palo Alto issued a statement addressing these homophobic posters, saying while the speech is protected by the First Amendment, the sentiment is disturbing.” KRON adds. First Amendment speech is not protected when it comes in the form of vandalism.
