President Donald Trump took a position in support of torture – a war crime by both international and U.S. law – to defend his CIA nominee, Gina Haspel.
Haspel was in charge of a secret U.S. prison in Thailand, where she reportedly oversaw the torture program, including waterboarding of prisoners.
She also reportedly was the force behind the destruction of dozens of tapes recording episodes of torture.
