Melania Trump on Monday unveiled a booklet that purported to offer “lessons” to “help kids act thoughtfully and kindly” online. The guide was published as part of Trump’s new “Be Best” campaign, which aims to “encourage positive social, emotional, and physical habits” among children.
The only problem? As the Rude Pundit points out, Trump’s online guidelines weren’t part of a novel campaign spearheaded by a first lady who’s carving her own path in the East Wing. Instead, Melania Trump appears to have cribbed the guidelines from an FTC pamphlet published under her husband’s predecessor, Barack Obama.
The incident recalls Melania Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention speech in July 2016, during which the former model appeared to borrow a portion of her speech from former first lady Michelle Obama.
Leading a campaign against cyberbullying is a valiant cause, to be sure. Plagiarism is also up for grabs.
