Michael Avenatti: Wiretaps must have picked up indication that Michael Cohen was going to destroy evidence, hence the raids on his home and offices.

UPDATE II: 1:23 PM –
NBC News just reported Giuliani was not aware of the wiretap news, and called it “government intrusion” and said President Trump should have been notified. He was described as angry.

JUST IN: Washington Post’s @costareports spoke to Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani moments ago, who said he was not informed about the wiretap and it could lead to “an evisceration” of attorney client privilege pic.twitter.com/TFRhGLp0tI

Editor’s note: 5:25 PM – MSNBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press Daily” said Thursday afternoon that Cohen’s phones themselves are not being wiretapped, but monitored. This means investigators are not listening to every conversation. NBC News has yet to update their story online.
More:
Correction: Earlier today NBC News, and this reporter, said that Michael Cohen's phone lines were wiretapped. 3 Senior U.S. Officials now dispute that, saying the monitoring was limited to a log of calls (pen register) not a wiretap of Cohen's lines. We will continue to report.
