The suspected murderer who allegedly killed four people and wounded four others at a Tennessee Waffle House used an AR-15 which law enforcement agents had previously seized from him, but later returned to his father.
Metro Nashville Police Spokesperson Don Aaron delivered the stunning news in a press conference Sunday afternoon. He says the suspect is Travis Reinking, 29, of Morton, Illinois. Aaron also told reporters that Reinking had previously been arrested by Secret Service agents for being in a restricted area of the White House in July, 2017.
Reinking had an Illinois firearms authorization, which was revoked at the FBI’s request. Around that time four weapons were seized by Taswell County authorities, including the AR-15 rifle used to kill four people early Sunday morning at the Nashville-area Waffle House.
For reasons yet explained, the guns were returned by Illinois authorities to King’s father. The father admits returning the weapons to his son, as Aaron tells reporters in this video:
Law enforcement agents are searching for Reinking, who remains at large and may be armed with two of the four weapons that had been seized from him.

UPDATE: Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson says he’s not aware of any Tennessee laws Reinking was breaking by having possession of the four guns.
