Internet Is Certain ‘Pee Tape’ Is Real After Report Leaks Trump Asked Comey to Investigate
Twitter is flooded with people insisting the “pee tape” is real. The supposed existence of the tape made headlines after Buzzfeed published the Steele Dossier, which included the “salacious” story about President Trump.
The New York Post reports it “obtained” a copy of former FBI Director Jim Comey’s unreleased book, which is due out next week.
“President Trump wanted James Comey to investigate the infamous ‘pee tape’ allegations — to reassure Melania that he hadn’t actually paid Russian hookers to urinate on a hotel bed, the former FBI chief claims in his upcoming book,” The Post reports.
“He brought up what he called the ‘golden showers thing’ … adding that it bothered him if there was ‘even a one percent chance’ his wife, Melania, thought it was true,” Comey writes in “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” a copy of which was obtained by The Post.
“He just rolled on, unprompted, explaining why it couldn’t possibly be true, ending by saying he was thinking of asking me to investigate the allegation to prove it was a lie. I said it was up to him.”
In the book, Comey asks readers to consider, “In what kind of marriage, to what kind of man, does a spouse conclude there is only a 99 percent chance her husband didn’t do that?”
That’s led Twitter to insist the pee tape is out there.
For example, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes teased:
It's real.

Writer at The New Republic:
Memo to Putin: the Pee Tape is rapidly depreciating in value as other embarrassing stuff about Trump comes out. Get what you can out of it now.

Others:
one reason i would want the pee tape to actually surface will be to watch the evangelical leaders forgive it in great detail hopefully frame by frame explaining which parts are a mulligan

And the wind, whispered, “The pee tape is real”

So basically Trump wanted the FBI to be his own personal P.I. https://t.co/VlbJ4VENiA

Look, the worst thing about the pee tape is clearly that it can't play Cannes because it's streaming.
*sigh* Fine. I'll show myself out.

Trump: “missiles will be coming soon”
Putin: “pee tape will be coming soon”— Roland Scahill (@rolandscahill) April 11, 2018
So Trump asked Comey to investigate the pee tape but doesn't want his national security team to look into Russian meddling in the election.
Priorities.

A year ago there was no question in my mind that the pee tape was a hoax. I was wrong and I’d like to apologize to everyone who knew the truth in their hearts all along.

The Post does not actually make clear whether or not the tape exists.
