Diamond and Silk Tell Congress Trump Campaign Never Paid Them – Internet Responds With Proof It Did

Diamond and Silk, the North Carolina sisters who run a wide-reaching YouTube channel and regularly appear on Fox News supporting and promoting President Trump, are being accused of lying to Congress by several reporters.
The pair Thursday morning testified to Congress about what they claim is censorship by Facebook of conservative voices.
Diamond and Silk are testifying before the House Judiciary Committee. Why? Because the #GOP seems to want to regulate content on the Internet. Very bad idea. It would also be unconstitutional. pic.twitter.com/djxZUnU3GQ

According to several reporters, the pair were asked by Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee if they had ever been paid by the Trump campaign. Allegedly they answered no.
But as those same reporters and a U.S. Congressman note, that appears to be incorrect. On Twitter the reporters posted screenshots of the Donald J. Trump for President campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) that suggest otherwise.
According to the report, which is also available online, and to the reporters, the Trump campaign paid Diamond and Silk $1274.94 for “field consulting” in November of 2016.
HuffPost’s Eliot Nelson:
Say what you will about Sheila Jackson Lee, but she just got Diamond and Silk to lie under oath. The duo said they weren’t paid by the Trump campaign…

ABC’s Alex Mallin:
Diamond (of Diamond and Silk) just claimed repeatedly in front of the House Judiciary Committee that the two have “never” been paid by the Trump campaign.
But per this FEC report they received $1274.94 from the campaign in 11/2016 for “field consulting.” https://t.co/1kX4g3KJYb pic.twitter.com/Edkq6XgKxu

Foreign Policy and Strategy Consultant Molly McKew:
Diamond & Silk denied under oath that they have ever taken money from the Trump campaign. Here’s the FEC record showing they took money from the Trump campaign. https://t.co/YqPK9PaY0y pic.twitter.com/cc1HwOAZFc

The pair were reminded they are under oath by Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.

The Hill’s Will Sommer notes they responded by calling the FEC filing “fake news”:
Diamond and Silk address the FEC filing suggesting they were paid by Trump campaign: “We are familiar with that particular lie. We can see that you do fall for fake news.”

Diamond and Silk are claiming the payment was just reimbursement for plane tickets. Hilariously, Jeffries asks if they’re really disputing a FEC filing by “the president that you so love”

Media Matters’ Matthew Gertz weighs in:
Two things that seem obvious:
1) Diamond and Silk have repeatedly lied under oath in congressional testimony.
2) They would greatly benefit from an effort to punish them for that.— Matthew Gertz (@MattGertz) April 26, 2018
